  • I didn't set out to be an "artist", but I've always made something in response to what I saw or did or enjoyed. What I make is influenced by a life exposed to the coastal areas near the Gulf of Mexico, Southern culture and the city of New Orleans. I grew up living by the Mississippi sound and was immersed in boating and harvesting whatever seafood was in season. My father's family was a mix of southern Louisiana French on his mother's side and Sicilian immigrants on his father's. The Sicilian side had a produce stand in the French Market, while my childhood was spent back and forth between New Orleans and the coast.
  • I did study printmaking and pottery, and was a watercolorist for 13 years for the Walter Anderson family in Ocean Springs, MS. I taught myself to cut the old roofing material that I reclaim to use in the art that I make now after my husband asked me if I could use some equipment that sat idle most of the time in his boat business. The completed pieces are a collage of salvaged architectural objects which are finally layered with painted metal images. The frames are made from wood that comes from remodeled or demolished old houses. Layers of wood and metal give the finished pieces a dimensional quality.
  • I have been a member of Dutch Alley Artist's Co-op since 2004 where most of the art is shown seven days a week. Art can be found in commercial establishments as well as coastal galleries. Custom orders are welcomed.
