Perry Morgan

On September 30 2024, we lost long time member Perry Morgan III. Coincidentally, it was the 10th anniversary of his membership in the gallery.

Perry’s art and personality, as well as his active presence over decades as a New Orleans artist and gallery owner, leave an indelible mark on the city and the people who knew him. He will also be remembered by new and longtime collectors of his work from all over the world. Earlier in his career, Perry was commissioned by various individuals and businesses, from doctors to bar owners, to transform entire spaces with his unique style and color palette. He incorporated his knowledge and love of music and southern lore into all of his work. In his paintings, he also drew from the places that he had lived and loved over the years. If you knew of his early roots in Savannah, Ga, and Laguna Beach, California and then of his total immersion in New Orleans for most of his adult life, you could find all of those places as expressions in his vibrant work.

Over his career as an artist, Perry worked in clay, wood, fiber and painting. Pieces in all of his various mediums are still cherished in collections everywhere. We take comfort in knowing Perry’s humor and talent will live on for years to come. We will miss him.
