Caren was a ceramic artist for 25 years until Hurricane Katrina changed her life. After losing her home and studio, she spent every spare moment taking photos on the streets of New Orleans. Her images captured the fractured city, the treasures that became trash, the architectural elements that bent but held and the wacky signs that everyone seemed to post. She attempted to convey the ambiance of a beautiful, if broken, city that had taken on an otherworldly grace.
The result is a collection of images and collages compiled from thousands of the photos she has taken.
